Whether you’re technically savvy or not, we’ve picked out 12 awesome gadgets that are sure to make you the gift-giving hit of the season.

Check back each day to discover the next perfect present during our 12 days of technology!

What it is: Lightbox puzzle

Thanks to the LightBox Puzzle, your days of keeping track of hundreds of cardboard puzzle pieces are behind you—but don’t worry, you can still get that mental rush that only comes from puzzle-solving. In fact, this multi-layered brainteaser will never leave you in the dark! Its series of clear, acrylic layers fit together magnetically and utilize photo-etched silver circuitry to create LED-powered, 3-D circuits that light up in a geometric sculpture. To solve the puzzle, figure out how to turn off the interconnected lights by rotating and repositioning the layers. The LightBox Puzzle comes with a felt puzzle sleeve to hide the light when you aren’t using the cube, as well as rechargeable lithium ion batteries and a USB charger cable.

Only one combination will make the cube go dark, and once you solve the puzzle, you’ll need to change the order of the pieces to turn the lights back on. Have fun tinkering at your desk or on your couch and let the LightBox Puzzle light up your day!

How much it costs: $85.00

Although the LightBox Puzzle is advertised on a series of sites, it is only sold through Uncommon Goods, with standard shipping rates. Unfortunately, the puzzle is only available for brainteaser-lovers in the United States at this time.

Who to buy it for: The smarty-pants in your life

While people of all shapes and sizes love brainteasers, it takes a special breed to enjoy tough mental challenges. This puzzle is classified as hard, meaning you’ll likely be able to stump even the smartest person you know—or at least keep them entertained for awhile!
