MyITpros employee spotlight: Meet Josh Alvarez!

Spotlight-Josh.png
One of the things MyITpros prides itself on is having a strong culture of teamwork- and that is made possible by our phenomenal staff. Each month, we’re spotlighting one of our awesome team members so you can know the faces behind the brand. This month, we are pleased to sit down and talk to another employee in a brand new position! Our very first project administrator – Josh Alvarez!

You’re our first project coordinator, congrats! Describe your day to day responsibilities.

“It's just basically checking our project boards and checking with our account managers daily for progress and updates and both internal and external projects. I schedule meetings and review project milestones and because this position has never existed before I am cataloging all related project information for each individual project to reuse the same processes for similar type projects in the future.”

What are your short and long term goals for this role?

"In the short term, it's to document new processes and refine existing ones for our projects. Long term would be to get to a point where, in general, the project processes can take care of themselves."

Josh Alvarez Spotlight

When or how did you decide that IT was the career for you?

“I was 14 when I built my first computer just to play video games. I’ve built over fifty if not more; I build them for friends and family.  So since building my own computers and helping people with their technical problems has always been a hobby, it was a natural progression into where I am now."

Describe a fulfilling project you’ve worked on.

“Watching a brand new server go from an idea to a full blown implementation. We planned it, set out to do it and it worked for the client."

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned working at MyITpros?

"That things can change on a dime and you need to always be ready to adapt. In a multi-client environment things change everyday and you need to just roll with the punches."

Where do you want to be in 5 years.

It really depends. Ideally, still in Austin and helping people. I’m not sure if I want to switch back to [my previous role of] help desk but definitely still IT related. And always keep improving my skills professionally."
